Day 1: WINDHOEK – Etosha Safari Camp

Please make your way to the Windhoek Truck port at 06:45 o'clock. The Go2 Traveller Transfer will depart at 07:00
o'clock. On your way north, to arguably Namibia’s flagship National Park.
After leaving Windhoek at the Windhoek Truck Port, you will head north towards Okahandja. Historically Okahandja
has been a very important location for the OvaHerero tribe of Namibia. It has a long-recorded history predating the
arrival of Europeans and Colonisation.
You will leave Okahandja towards Otjiwarongo, keeping north on your way to Etosha. On your way, roughly halfway
between the two towns you will see the Omatako mountains, two tall peaks on your left. They are quite magnificent,
both standing at over 2 000 m above sea level. It is a fantastic sight, two imposing mountains in the middle of African
Savannah. Omatako means “Buttocks” in Otjiherero and is the topic of many jokes among Namibians. After leaving
the Omatako behind, you will reach Otjiwarongo, which means “beautiful” in Otjiherero. Otjiwarongo is a thriving
little town built on many aspects, mining and agriculture being the most important.
You will leave Otjiwarongo and head to Outjo a mere 67 km away. Outjo is a small town and the gateway to Etosha,
it was established by German colonial authorities as a military outpost responsible for the North-Western parts of
Namibia. Today Outjo is the home of many tourist attractions and has a strong agricultural community.
From Outjo it is approximately 100km to Etosha Trading post, where you will have the chance to stretch your legs,
before finally arriving at Etosha Safari Camp, the famous Gondwana Lodge, which has a distinct Namibian flair and
is decorated like a truly African Shebeen. Sit back and relax before your next adventure in Etosha National Park, the
place of legends.
The journey to Etosha Safari Camp will take ca. 5 hours. Arrival at Etosha Safari Camp is ca, 12:00 o'clock.
After your check-in you can enjoy a lunch (on own account) followed by an hour at leisure.
At ca. 14:00 o'clock the Afternoon Half-Day Excursion to the Etosha National Park will start at reception. Duration of
the tour is 5-6 hours. Be sure to pack sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, binoculars, and your camera.

Day 3: Etosha Safari Camp – WINDHOEK

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast and a few hours at leisure. At 12:45 o'clock you need to be ready at reception. The Go2 Traveller Transfers will depart Etosha Safari Camp at 13:00 o'clock. The 421km journey from Etosha to Windhoek begins as a peaceful countryside drive and then gradually transforming into bustling towns as one moves more inland to the capital. This journey is filled with an abundance of different sceneries as the landscape changes from the large open white seemingly ashy earth crust with just a few basil green arid thorn- shrubs and Tamboti tree sprinkled through the horizon to large mountain ranges and peaks known as the Khomas Highlands. 317km from Etosha, one enters the small town of Outjo that has approximately 6000 inhabitants. As the “gateway to Etosha” Outjo has numerous bistros and friendly residents that are eager to greet and entertain the tourists passing through. Entering the Otjozondjupa Region one finds an even bigger town- Otjiwarongo, one of Namibia’s fastest growing towns with the 28 000 inhabitants and numerous surrounding private game farms and nature reserves. On route to Okahandja one passes the Okanjati Wildschutzgebiet (Okanjati Game Reserve) on the right-hand side. The Game reserve is about 360 square kilometres and privately owned for the protection of hippos and to house many different species of birds, antelope, lions, cheetahs, and even the much-endangered rhinos. A fossilized dinosaur footprint can be seen in the park. Okahandja is known as the “Garden town of Namibia” and is the place where the Okavango and Okamita rivers meet and flow into each other, but do not expect much water in the river as it only flows when the area has had heavy rain fall for some time during the months of November to April. One major tourist attraction is where many locals carve wood into many different decorative items, such as giraffe statues and small canoe boats. Exiting Okahandja the Von Bach Dam turnoff will appear on the left-hand side. The last 47km before one reach Windhoek sees a rather dramatic shift from the semi-arid countryside and rural areas to industrialized buildings and suburban life. One enters the highway to see poultry farms and even vehicle sale rooms. The journey back to Windhoek will take ca. 5 hours. Arrival at Windhoek Truck Port is ca. 18:00 o'clock.
