If you are a strong swimmer, take your spirit of adventure up a notch and challenge some of those huge rapids with flippers and a boogie board – just you against the mighty Zambezi. Not all rapids are suitable to boogie board so the day is combined with a Rafting trip and your intrepid guide will attempt to deposit you in the best surfing spots on this magnificent river.
Lunch, cold beers and soft drinks are served at the end of the trip at the top of the gorge. Shearwater Rafting is done in 8-man inflatable rafts captained by an experienced qualified river guide. All guides are First Aid qualified. Cost of trip excludes National Park fees of USD 10 per person.
The minimum age is 15 years but persons under the age of 18 years need to have signed authorisation from a parent or guardian.
Guides are trained and equipped to administer advanced first aid. In the event of minor injuries clients are carried out of the gorge and transferred by road to the Vic Falls clinic. Helicopter evacuation services are available for major injuries or serious illnesses.
One needs to be a good swimmer. A reasonable level of fitness is required to participate in white-water rafting and the hike out of the gorge. Guides reserve the right to turn back individuals with health conditions or who are deemed unfit.
