The ship is guessed to ply Lake Victoria, offering key transport and trade network between Portbell and Jinja in Uganda, Kisumu in Kenya, and Kemondo, Bukoba, Mwanza, Musoma in Tanzania.
The vessel will have a VIP section for national leaders as well as ongoing VIP facilities including a first-class section with a capacity for sixty people, business class for hundred people, second class for two-hundred people and third class for eight-hundred people.
It is built for 109bn Tanzania shillings.Speaking at the event to land the ship ashore, Tanzania permanent secretary in the Works Ministry and Transport and Gabriel Migire said the building of the ship was an initiative to help better trade between the areas boarding the lake.
Gerson Msigwa, the government spokesman, said it will last for fifty years.
Apart from sailing between Bukoba and Mwanza, the ship will also be ferrying passengers and goods to neighbouring nations of Uganda at Portbell and Jinja and in Kenya docking at Kisumu port.
The ships construction was led by 2 South Korean firms, KangNam and Gas Entec Corporation, and start in January 2019. The battleships, which are 92.5 meters long, 20 meters high, 17 meters wide, will cost more than Tsh100 billion.
The MV Mwanza Hapa Kazi Tu ship, launching 2023 at the South Port Mwanza, can carry 1,200 passengers, four-hundred tonnes of cargo, twenty little vehicles and 3 trucks.
